NEW YORK.- While calm was believed to have returned to the ruling PLD party in the U.S. New England region after Ramona Abreu assuming the post of interim vice consul in Boston, controversy resurged in those offices Tuesday when Miguel Andújar tried to force his way in to remove her.
A consulate source cited by elnuevodiario.com.do who asked not to use their name said Andujar, assigned to the post by a president Leonel Fernandez decree, cannot assume do so because he’s either a US citizen or permanent resident, but doesn’t want to relinquish that status to be accredited in the State Department.
Andujar allegedly went with a group of PLD members and his followers to the Boston consulate offices in Park Place and despite orders by security, tried to enter the building to reach Abreu’s office.
The source said Andújar tried to kick the main door down, and yelled out loud demanding to enter, prompting a call to police.
