‘Ludicrous,’ Defense chief calls Haitians “Taking our land” campaign

Santo Domingo.- Defense minister Sigfrido Pared on Tuesday called the "Taking our land" campaign headed by a pro-Haitian NGO “an insult,” but "ludicrous."

"We consider the words which the campaign says an affront because speaking of the territory it cannot be more than the Dominican Republic and as such that movement concerns us," the official said after a mass to mark Armed Forces Day at Defense headquarters.

Pared said the campaign hides something “ludicrous,” but warned that an investigations will determine an appropriate response.

In that regard Interior and Police minister José Ramón Fadul on Monday said he doesn’t place much importance on the NGO headed by former Haiti diplomat Edwin Paraison, despite reports that it has staged demonstrations in Elías Piña, Dajabón and Altagracia provinces.
