Apart-Hotel Aspacia’s owner charged with electricity fraud

Santo Domingo. – The electricity distributor company EDESUR Dominicana on Monday announced it will file charges of energy theft against the Apart-Hotel Aspacia, of the sector Arroyo Hondo II, for “frequently connecting to the power lines illegally,” mainly at night, to evade electricity payment.

In a statement, EDESUR said it searched the hotel on a bench warrant Friday night, where its inspectdors found an illegally connected transformer, whose estimated consumption is more than RD$2.0 million.

It said the hotel’s owner was arraigned on criminal charges on Saturday, but didn’t provide his name.
