Dominican origin lawmaker announces bid for Washington

New York.- New York State senator Adriano Espaillat on Thursday announced the launch of his campaign for the U.S. Congress for his mostly Latino district of Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

“A diverse coalition of supporters will join us to spotlighting the community’s shared needs, the lawmaker’s campaign said in an emailed statement.

Espaillat’s campaign to represent New York’s 13th Congressional District and was announced in a press conference, with supporters, community leaders and elected officials from across the District, held at United Palace in Manhattan.

"From Washington Heights to Harlem, from El Barrio to Kingsbridge in the Bronx, we suffer the same problems and seek the same solutions," Espaillat said.
