‘Provocative campaign’ no risk to Dominican territory, official

Santo Domingo.- Immigration Agency director José Ricardo Taveras yesterday said the country isn’t at risk from the campaign “Retaking our territory.”

"The attitude is obviously provocative but it shouldn’t be a cause for concern in the sense that in no way the integrity of the national territory is at risk," the official told the press in Congress.

He said the military and police safeguard sovereignty and if those entities aren’t enough, the Dominican people will defend the territory against all threats.

Taveras said intelligence agencies evaluate those behind the controversial movement, noting that the there are people in the country who "throw stones and hide their hand."
