President, former president hold surprise meeting

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina met Friday with former president Hipolito Mejia, and discussed farming topics, including greenhouse nurseries, local media said.

The head of state and the veteran politico met in a farm of Villa Mella, north of the capital, together with other agribusiness leaders.

Administrative minister Jose R. Peralta and Agriculture minister Luis R. Rodríguez accompanied the President, among others.

Medina left the National Palace around 11:30am unannounced and accompanied by a small escort of only two vehicles.
