More than US$1.2M seized in Dominican Republic resort town(UPDATE)

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.- Authorities report that more dollars were found in sacks of dog food and rice in the same container, "owned by Modesto Calvo."

They said the dollars were sent by a customer “Macacalvo Shipping” from New York….more information as available

File.- Customs Agency officials from Santo Domingo seized more than US$1.0 million at Puerto Plata’s port Tuesday night, smuggled in a container loaded with TV sets from New York.

Local media report that the 1.2 million dollars were seized when unidentified smugglers tried to bring it into the country.

There are several detainees in the case thus far.
