Don’t chicken out, VP warns accuser in US$70.0M slander suit

Santiago.- Vice president Margarita Cedeño on Wednesday warned she’ll not settle out of court her slander charges against the lawyer Marcos Martínez, who had accused her of having more than US$70.0 million in a Denmark bank account.

She said there’ll neither be a friendly solution nor a simple retraction. "He’d better not defend himself like a chicken when he was so brave to voice the accusations."

After leaving the hearing that lasted just 30 minutes, Cedeño said she only wants that the truth is known.

Santiago 2nd Instruction Court judge Clara Vargas set a new hearing for April 1 after Martinez’s lawyer Francisco Hernandez failed to appear.
