NYPD detective kills Dominican serving in U.S. National Guard

NEW YORK.- A NYPD detective shot and killed a 22-year-old Dominican Noel Polanco who was serving in U.S. National Guard soldier 5:15am Thursday, after leaving from a nighttime job he also held a in a local restaurant.

The Police identified the detective as Hassan Hamdy, 39, in the shooting which took place occurred on Grand Central Parkway, near La Guardia Airport in Queens

"Noel was sitting with his hands on the steering wheel when the police shot him," said the woman identified as the waitress Diane Deferrari, who said she was in the front passenger seat in the vehicle driven by Polanco, a Honda Fit.

NYPD spokesman Paul Brown said when the officer ordered the car’s occupants to show his hands, the waitress complied, but Polanco didn’t.
