Urban singer surrenders, faces charges in mall shootout

Santo Domingo.- Urban merengue singer Peter Antonio de la Rosa (Omega) surrendered to Santiago authorities Tuesday afternoon, to face charges relating to a shopping center shootout that injured three people Saturday.

De la Rosa is being held at the Santiago courthouse jail and his arraignment is expected today.

His attorney Pantaleón Mieses said he’ll prove de la Rosa didn’t fire the weapon in the incident at Las Colinas Mall, and requested a wider investigation to determine who instigated the brawl.

“Omega feels sad about the situation he’s going through,” Mieses said of de la Rosa, who faces three separate charges that he was the person who fired the weapon.
