Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) on Friday affirmed that only 396 people remain in shelters nationwide, but dozens of communities in four northern Cibao and Southeast regions provinces continue cut off.
It said the figure is down from yesterday’s 8,141 displaced people.
COE director Juan Manuel Méndez said several houses sustained flood damage in Santo Domingo’s La Barquita barrio yesterday, but rose to 400 Friday.
He said flooding at several sectors of the subdivision Los Tres Brazos have also been cut off, while in Santo Domingo North, 714 homes were flooded at El Manguito, and several families stranded at Los Mina Abajo.
Duarte was the hardest hit province, where the Yuna river crested its banks and cut off Los Contreras, Los Peinados, Loma Colorá and Juana Rodriguez.
Mendez added that also cut off at Sanchez Ramirez province were the sectors La Piedra, Los Charcos, Botero, Palmar del Río, Sabana del Río Sonador and Julieta.
