Dominican Republic opposed to Russia’s annexation of Crimea

United Nations.- The UN General Assembly on Thursday adopted a resolution that supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity, calling the referendum in Crimean “not valid" and calls to peacefully resolve the crisis triggered after its annexation by Russia.

In a non-binding text approved by 100 votes against 11 and 58 abstentions, the Assembly stressed that the March 16 referendum in the Crimea "doesn’t apply" because "it wasn’t authorized" by the Government in Kiev.

"We affirm our commitment to the sovereignty, political independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine from its internationally recognized borders," said the resolution submitted by six countries.

Among the Latin American countries which voted in favor of the resolutino figure Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, México, Panamá and Peru.
