Palestinian leader arrives Friday on regional tour

Santo Domingo.- Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas starts a tour Thursday of several Latin American countries, aimed at bolstering relations with the Spanish-speaking world and seek Colombia’s his support Palestine’s entry in the UN, reports EFE.

Abás, who’ll spend today and tomorrow in Strasbourg, will start his official agenda Friday with a visit to Dominican Republic, where he’ll address that country’s Congress, and invited by Dominican president Leonel Fernandez, one of the Latin America’s leading defenders of the Palestinians’ right to Statehood.

In addition to Nicaragua he’ll also visit Honduras, home to Central America’s biggest Palestinian community.
