Dominican Republic Easter week death toll at 33 (Update2)

Santo Domingo.-The Emergency Operations Center (COE) at noon Monday raised the number of fatalities during the Easter weekend to 33.

As of noon Sunday, the COE had reported the death of 25 people during the Easter holidays, 24 of which were killed in traffic accidents and one drowning.

It said 587 persons were affected by 356 accidents reported thus far, 24 of which died in traffic accidents, 15 were on motorcycles, eight in light vehicles and one died run.

The total of reported accidents, 195 motorbikes were involved, 160 light vehicles, and one truck.

The first response agency adds that around 1.2 million people took to the country’s roads during the weekend.
