US Coast Guard busts 600K cocaine near Dominican Republic coast

Santo Domingo,- A shipment of around 600 kilos of cocaine was seized Monday night on a speedboat heading to Barahona (south), where the United States Coast Guard, helped by intelligence from various Colombian and Dominican antinarcotics agencies arrested a Colombian and a Dominican.

DNCD spokesman Miguel Medina said during the interdiction of the carried out at 10pm, the two suspects arrested were on board the speedboat "Gost Fast" were transporting 24 bales of cocaine from South America.

It identified the detainees as the Colombian Andrés Berroa and the Dominican Juan Carlos Feliz.

Medina added that US authorities will transfer the cocaine and the two men to Tampa, Florida, where they’ll be charged.
