Agents arrest Colombian convicted in major murder case

Santo Domingo.- Colombian national Andrés Berroa (René Martinez Rueda, El Capi), who served five years for the murder of seven people in the Paya drug trafficking case in 2008, was arrested Monday night by the Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) and the U.S. DEA when, trying to smuggle 600 kilos of cocaine aboard a speedboat from South America.

The drug, along with other shipments seized during the last several days, belong to the bloody Colombian cartel Los Urabeños, in Uraba, and paramilitary groups based in that country’s jungles.

The Urabeños form part of the group known as the ODIN (organizations integrated to drug trafficking), and share the drug trafficking stage with other networks considered narco-terrorists, which include Los Rastrojos.

The DNCD affirms however that the latest drug shipments have reached the country from Perú aboard containers inspected at Caucedo and Haina ports.
