Extraditable’s 8 postponed hearings raise eyebrows

Santo Domingo.- The Supreme Court’s (SCJ) Penal Chamber on Wednesday postponed the extradition hearing against Ramon del Rosario Puente’s (Toño Leña) for the eighth time, a measure which began raising eyebrows among morning radio talk shows.

The justices ruled to resume the hearing Monday at the request of defense lawyer Tomas Castro, but rejected extending the terms to submit documents.

Chamber president Hugo Alvarez Valencia rejected the defense motion for the prosecution to turn over evidence against del Rosario, including videos, wiretaps and drugs seized, and ruled that it wasn’t relevant to the process to extradite him to Puerto Rico to face charges of drug trafficking.
