National Carnival Parade 2024 dedicated to San Cristóbal

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Culture has announced the grand National Carnival Parade 2024, set to take place on Sunday, March 17, along George Washington Avenue in Santo Domingo. Starting at 2:00 PM, the event promises extensive security measures to ensure a joyful experience for families enjoying diverse carnival traditions in one unified celebration.

The announcement, led by Minister of Culture Milagros Germán, highlighted the dedication of the National Carnival Parade to the province of San Cristóbal, recognizing its rich cultural heritage and award-winning carnival. Artist and designer Luis Rivas will be crowned king, and communicator Jatnna Tavárez will serve as the queen.

The event also featured the presentation of the Felipe Abreu Award for Merit for the Dominican Carnival 2024 to Juan Óscar Souffront Rodríguez (Yanco) for his significant contributions. The Luis Días Music Award winners were announced, with Yohansy Rodríguez taking first place.

The parade, starting at the Santo Domingo boardwalk, ensures a secure environment with collaboration from national police, military forces, the Dominican Red Cross, Santo Domingo Fire Department, and Civil Defense. Recognitions were also given to San Cristóbal’s Mayor’s Office, Government, and Carnival Union for their contributions.

The festivities concluded with the artistic presentation of UCASANCRI and the Ecological Devils of San Cristóbal, produced by Fidel López.
