Santo Domingo – Digesett continues its operations against motorcyclists who violate the Traffic Law.
So far this year, 61,738 motorcyclists have been inspected for not wearing protective helmets.
In order to prevent traffic accidents, the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett) continues nationwide operations against motorcyclists who violate Law 63-17 of Mobility, Land Transportation, Transit and Road Safety of the Dominican Republic.
The entity focused on a breakdown of the inspections carried out during operations against motorcyclists in different parts of the country to prevent and punish those who violate the Traffic Law and put their lives and the lives of other road users at risk.
During January, 44,806 motorcyclists were inspected for not wearing protective helmets, while so far in February, 16,932 motorcyclists have been inspected.
Also, Digesett highlighted that only yesterday, Friday, 187 motorcycle drivers were inspected for riding in prohibited places (tunnels and overpasses), of which 100 were retained and sent to the Vehicle Retention Center.
The Digesett reiterates that it will continue working to reduce the rates of traffic accidents and guarantee road safety throughout the country. It calls on drivers, especially motorcyclists, to be more aware of their road behavior, respect the Traffic Law, and drive with caution.
