A second child mauled by a pitbull in as many months

Santiago.- A pitbull dog mauled a three year-old boy in the highland city of Constanza on Tuesday, La Vega province police announced Wednesday.

The victim, Henry Ruiz, 3, becomes the second child to die from a pitbull attack in as many months, and shed more light on the breed of aggressive dogs.

Last month an 8-year old boy was killed and his mother severely hurt in another attack by the fierce animals in Samana (northeast). The animal was owned by a French national.

The National Police said the boy in Constanza approached the animal which attacked him at once, causing his death, adding that an enraged crowd killed the dog with clubs, stones and knives.
