ISFODOSU and CNSS sign a cooperation agreement on cybersecurity
Santo Domingo.- The rector of the Instituto Superior de Formación Docente Salomé Ureña (ISFODOSU), Dr. Nurys del Carmen González Durán, signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement with the executive director of the Centro Nacional de Ciberseguridad (CNSS), Colonel Juan Gautreaux Martínez.
The objective of the agreement is to strengthen the national cybersecurity framework, promoting awareness and the creation of secure, reliable and resilient digital environments that promote a digital society within a framework of inclusion and respect for fundamental rights.
Dr. González indicated that as a state institution and, specifically, as a higher education entity, ISFODOSU must take care to safeguard its information in order to comply with the veracity required when issuing degrees.
“We thank you, Director Gautreaux, and your entire team for the receptivity with which we have been received as an institution, in order to, through this agreement, reaffirm our commitment to complying with regulations, as well as to promoting a culture of cybersecurity in our educational community,” added the Rector.
Colonel Gautreaux said that as an institution they have a great interest in raising awareness among the educators that ISFODOSU trains about the importance of cybersecurity, so that they can serve as multipliers of that information with their students.
“Everything is digitized and anyone can be a victim of a cyberattack or cybercrime, and we must be trained to know how to deal with it,” said the CNSS director.
Both institutions have considered it opportune to establish permanent mechanisms of inter-institutional cooperation and collaboration, in order to promote and foster a national culture of cybersecurity that is based on the effective protection of the Dominican State, its inhabitants and, in general, the development and national security and that leads to a more secure cyberspace.
Through the signing of this agreement, ISFODOSU technical staff will immediately inform the CNSS, through the National Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CSIRT-RD), of any incident generated in any of the relevant information systems, of which they may become aware in the exercise of their duties, in order that the CNSS may promptly apply the procedures established in the applicable laws.
Whenever the nature of the information allows, both institutions agree to exchange information on cybersecurity threat events and consultations on administrative and/or technical aspects that may be of mutual interest to achieve their respective objectives.
Both ISFODOSU and CNSS will collaborate in the transfer and exchange of knowledge, information and experiences for the implementation of cybersecurity projects, both at a strategic and operational or technical level, as well as in coordinated actions aimed at raising awareness, training and education in cybersecurity.
The agreement was drafted within the framework of Decree No. 313-22, dated June 14, 2022, which approves the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2030, with validity until December 31, 2030.
