Aerodom reports flights from the DR to Haiti are still canceled

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Airports Siglo XXI (Aerodom) announced continued cancellations of flights from the Dominican Republic to Haiti on Monday. Increased gunfire near the Haiti airport in Port-au-Prince was reported, following the purported return of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who had been abroad in Kenya discussing a multinational security support mission.

Due to the prevailing climate of violence and disorder in Port-au-Prince, airlines with regular operations to Haiti, including HI, Sunrise Airways, and Air Century, have opted to suspend their flights, as stated by Luis López, the spokesperson for Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI.

Sunrise Airways and Air Century, which regularly operate flights from Higüero International Airport in Santo Domingo to Toussaint Louverture terminal in Port-au-Prince, are among the affected carriers.

Additionally, the ongoing situation has prevented businessmen with investments and businesses in Haiti from traveling to the neighboring country. Private planes are being kept in their hangars at Dr. Joaquín Balaguer terminal in Santo Domingo as a precautionary measure.
