Inauguration of Hispaniola Industrial Free Zone Park

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated the “Hispaniola Industrial Free Zone Park” on Friday and launched the construction of the Hispaniola Logistics Center, with an estimated investment of RD$2.4 billion in the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra. These initiatives are expected to generate 15,000 jobs.

The “Hispaniola Economic Zone” is a comprehensive development project comprising a free zone, a logistics center, and a business-industrial park.

During the inauguration, Minister of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs, Victor “Ito” Bisonó, noted that the expanded Park, part of the Hispaniola Economic Zone project, currently houses three companies and employs 1,300 individuals.

Bisonó explained that with the available land and anticipated employment figures based on existing free zone parks in Greater Santo Domingo, the Hispaniola Industrial Free Zone Park could provide employment for approximately 15,000 people.

He projected that by 2024, infrastructure for three new companies would be completed, expanding the industrial estate to cover 650,000 square feet of buildings and creating about 1,600 direct jobs.

The investment in the Park, coupled with programmed investments for the year, totals 2,400 million pesos, positioning the Hispaniola Industrial Free Zone Park as the third largest private free zone park in Greater Santo Domingo.

“We can affirm that the past three and a half years have been historic for our free zones, and the dynamic collaboration between the Government and the private sector has been instrumental in achieving these results,” Bisonó stated. “We anticipate this momentum to continue for at least another four years.”

Project director Arturo Peguero Almánzar reported that the complex begins with the “Hispaniola Industrial Free Zone Park,” spanning 420,000 square meters and currently accommodating three companies, employing 1,300 individuals.

The Hispaniola Industrial Free Zone Park ranks as the third largest private free zone park in Greater Santo Domingo due to its size, with ample space to construct 2.9 million square feet of buildings for manufacturing, logistics, commerce, and services.

Construction of the Hispaniola Logistics Center commenced, occupying 110,000 square meters of land with plans for 600,000 square feet of buildings for logistics operations. The first warehouse is slated for completion by the end of 2024, housing two companies in a 120,000-square-foot area. Its aim is to facilitate international trade activities for businesses within the Hispaniola Economic Zone.
