Another agent killed as chilling attacks grip Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- .- Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) agent Carmen Torres Báez, 41, on Monday became the latest victim in a chilling wave of attacks on law enforcement officers gripping the entire Dominican Republic during the last few months, usually to steal their weapon by gunmen on small motorcycles.

Torres, mother of four, was gunned down on the Maximo Gomez bridge to Villa Mella around 7:15am as she was directing traffic.

The Police 2nd Lt. Assigned to the AMET was allegedly shot by two young men who robbed her regulation firearm.
