Police patrols ensuring security and peace for Holy Week

Santo Domingo.- Seven thousand agents from the Joint Task Force are set to be deployed across the territory, starting yesterday at 2:00 in the afternoon and continuing until Holy Sunday at 6:00 pm. Minister of the Interior, Jesús Vásquez, along with the Police, emphasizes the necessity of citizen collaboration to ensure a peaceful Holy Week.

Units from the Preventive, Investigative, and Specialized Police will be strategically positioned in streets, avenues, highways, neighborhoods, urban areas, shopping centers, banking institutions, rivers, spas, and beaches, as per reports. As of Tuesday afternoon, patrols in neighborhoods such as Herrera, Los Ríos, and Ensanche la Fe remained normal.

Meanwhile, some citizens have already stocked up on alcoholic beverages, while merchants express hope that sales will not be prohibited. Traditional Holy Week fare includes beans with sweet and rum.

Authorities are expected to announce official restrictions on the sale of alcoholic beverages during the holiday period. The Operation was launched simultaneously in all regional directorates with clear instructions to utilize all available resources.
