Interior and Police enforce Good Friday alcohol sales ban

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of the Interior and Police has enforced a prohibition on the sale of alcoholic beverages from 12:01 AM on Good Friday until the same time on Holy Saturday. This measure aims to prevent accidents, loss of life, and to allow all families to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Holy Week holiday.

In Resolution No. MIP-RR-00021-2024, the Ministry reaffirms that the sale of alcohol to minors and noise pollution, including excessive volume, are strictly prohibited. It warns that any violations could result in the temporary or permanent closure of establishments and the revocation of operating permits, in addition to other sanctions outlined in the laws.

The ministry further stated that the Alcoholic Beverage Control Program (COBA), with the assistance of the National Police, will oversee compliance with this provision and take appropriate actions as necessary.
