Pet prevention and rescue guide for Easter

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Federation for Animal Rights (FEDDA), in collaboration with the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the Public Ministry, has launched the inaugural pet prevention and rescue guide for the Holy Week period.

Accessible through the fedda.org website and social media platforms, this guide offers essential recommendations for individuals planning to travel and leave their pets at home, as well as guidance for those intending to bring their pets along during the Easter holidays.

This marks the first instance of collaboration between the country’s emergency agencies, the Public Ministry, and animal rights organizations represented by the federation, aimed at coordinating an operational plan to prevent accidents and address the needs of animals during this period.

The guide provides advice for pet owners on how to handle leaving their pets alone at home, including recommendations on suitable locations and measures to ensure their safety. It also offers guidance for travelers on ensuring the safety and enjoyment of their furry companions during vacations.

In case of emergencies or reports concerning animals in need of assistance, individuals can contact the designated telephone number 809-472-0909, which will be managed by the COE call center.

This initiative underscores the collaborative efforts of various public entities and the federation representing the majority of animal activists and institutions advocating for animal rights in the country. They are also developing a protocol for animal rescue in emergency situations, which will be implemented year-round.
