Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD) has activated a contingency plan to ensure the continuous supply of drinking water to the population during the Holy Week holiday of 2024.

This initiative was announced by Felipe Suberví (Fellito), the general director of the institution, who emphasized that CAASD brigades will be on standby to address any unforeseen circumstances that may arise during the holiday period.

Suberví explained that the Emergency Committee, comprising the Operations team, Project Execution Unit, Maintenance, and customer service, will coordinate real-time actions as part of preventive measures.

He further stated that technical teams will monitor the operation of aqueducts, with reinforced surveillance at intake points such as Isabela, Haina-Manoguayabo, Isa, and Duey systems, which may attract increased recreational activity due to their nature.

“It is crucial that we all contribute to preserving this vital resource to ensure its availability not only during Holy Week but throughout the year,” emphasized Suberví.

In light of this, he stressed the importance of adopting responsible water usage practices, especially during Semana Mayor, considering the heightened demand for recreational activities.

Suberví outlined various measures implemented during the festivities, including reinforcing the water distribution network, continuous monitoring of reservoir levels and treatment plants, and preventive maintenance programs for infrastructure. Additionally, there’s coordination with other institutions and local authorities for an effective response to any emergency situations.

He commended the efforts of the entity’s call center in promptly addressing user requirements and complaints, operating special hours on Thursday and Friday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

For Easter 2024, CAASD will distribute bottled water at various exit points in Santo Domingo, starting on Holy Thursday, to assist with the population’s exodus to other parts of the country.

The institution reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality service and ensuring a hassle-free water supply for the entire Greater Santo Domingo population during Easter.
