Barahona: safe beaches and holiday regulations

Barahona, DR.- During Holy Week, both local and international tourists visiting this province will have the opportunity to indulge in the pristine, azure waters of the designated bathing beaches. According to the Prevention, Mitigation, and Response Committee (CPMR), the beaches open for bathing include La Casita Blanca, Punta Inglesa, El Quemaito, Bahía Paraíso, Los Cocos, and Enriquillo. These locations have been meticulously prepared to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for beachgoers.

The Civil Defense in the province has mobilized 400 volunteers and set up 25 aid stations to support beach operations and attend to any emergencies that may arise.

Conversely, beaches deemed unsafe for bathing due to high danger levels include San Rafael, Ojeda, Salinas, Los Patos, El Cayo, Río Caño, and El Estero. Visitors are advised to adhere to safety warnings and avoid these restricted areas.

All rivers in the province remain accessible to vacationers, while the Enriquillo Avenue boardwalk has been designated as a pedestrian zone. During Holy Week, vehicular traffic and parking will be prohibited in this area from 8 AM to 6 PM.

To enforce this regulation, members of the Digesett (Directorate General of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation) and Politur (Tourist Police) will be stationed to ensure compliance.

Additionally, motorcycles heading to coastal bathing centers are required to carry a maximum of two passengers equipped with protective helmets, reflective vests, and refrain from transporting alcoholic beverages. These measures aim to enhance safety and promote responsible enjoyment of the holiday festivities.
