Santo Domingo.- According to a specialist from the Dominican Astronomical Society (Astrodom), the solar eclipse expected on Monday, April 8, will have minimal visibility in the Dominican Republic, with less than 10% of coverage. However, countries like Mexico, the United States, and Canada will experience totality.

Miguel Acevedo, a member of Astrodom, clarified that the eclipse will be partial in the Dominican Republic, accounting for approximately 9% visibility. He emphasized that without proper equipment, most people won’t even notice it.

Acevedo further explained, “It will be far from the center of totality, which will cross parts of Mexico, Texas, some Western states, and a fraction of Canada. The visibility decreases as you move away from this path. In Florida, approximately 30% will be visible, while in the Cuban area, it will be around 20% or less.”

The solar eclipse is expected to begin at noon.
