Dominican gourmet coffee praised for flavor and quality

Chicago, United States.- The Dominican Ambassador to the United States, Sonia Guzmán, has shared exciting news from the Specialty Coffee Expo 2024 Fair in Chicago, where international buyers and attendees lauded the exceptional flavor and quality of Dominican gourmet coffee.

At the Dominican Republic stand, hundreds of visitors had the opportunity to sample a diverse array of coffee products from Creole producers. Participating companies included Natura Bella, SRL; Samir SRL; Bella Aldea SRL; Push Box Services SRL; INCATCARIBE SA; Alfredo & Hijos Estate Coffee; LBVG IMPEX SRL; Belarminio Ramírez e Hijos SA; Kora; Villar; and Monte Bonito.

The event also saw the presence of Chicago Consul Elías Brache, ProDominicana’s Executive Director Biviana Riveiro, Dominican Coffee Institute’s Executive Director Leónidas Batista Díaz, and other distinguished guests.

Ambassador Guzmán underscored the extraordinary added value of Dominican gourmet coffee in the international market, noting significant growth in production and exports over the past three years.

She emphasized that the quality, flavor, and aroma of Dominican coffee have garnered high praise from buyers in the United States, Canada, Japan, Belgium, Italy, Germany, and beyond.

Furthermore, Guzmán highlighted the remarkable expansion of the Dominican Republic’s coffee sector, citing an 85% increase in exports over three years, with Puerto Rico alone experiencing a staggering 600% surge in exports within a single year, according to ProDominicana data.

In closing, the diplomat commended the dedication and contributions of the country’s coffee producers to the national economy, especially those who showcased their offerings at the Dominican Republic Stand during the 2024 World Specialty Coffee Fair.
