Descendant of Dominicans targets Rhode Island’s top post

New York.- Providence, RI mayor Dr. Angel Taveras, of Dominican origin, heads polls in the bid for the Democratic Party candidacy for governor in the September primaries, says a recent survey by newspaper Providence Journal and TVWPRI- Channel 12 .

The poll shows Taveras leading with 33.4% against his nearest rival, State Treasurer Gina Raimondo, at 29.2%.

Pell Arcilla’s 11.5% and Todd Giroux at 1.6% round out the standings in the telephone survey using registered voters.

Pollster Fleming & Associates conducted the survey from May 27 to 30, whose 4.38% margin of error place Taveras and Raimondo in a technical tie.
