OAS lauds Medina’s effort on ruling affects Haitians’ offspring

Asuncion, Paraguay.- OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza on Wednesday lauded president Danilo Medina’s effort to seek a definitive solution to the situation caused by ruling 168-13 on nationality, in his speech to inaugurate the entity’s 44th General Assembly, before foreign ministers, ambassadors and multilateral organizations.

"On the situation in the Dominican Republic I would like to recognize the efforts made by president Danilo Medina to seek solutions to the difficulties resulting from the Constitutional Court ruling,” IInsulza said.

He said to the law was essential to openthe way for all concerned “to find a worthy place in Dominican society.”

Deputy Foreign minister Alejandra Liriano headed the delegation from the Dominican Republic, and included representative in the OAS, Pedro Vergés, among other officials.
