Onamet predicts local downpours and electrical storms

Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) forecasts weak to moderate morning rains across provinces in the east, northeast, and the Central Mountain Range for this Friday. These conditions are attributed to the presence of a localized trough at various levels of the troposphere.

In the evening, precipitation is expected to intensify due to daytime warming, leading to moderate to heavy downpours with the possibility of hailstorms, thunderstorms, and gusts of wind in areas including Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, San José de Ocoa, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, La Romana, among others.

In specific regions:

  • National District: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized showers, isolated thunderstorms, and occasional gusts of wind.
  • Santo Domingo Este: Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with localized showers, isolated thunderstorms, and occasional gusts of wind.
  • Santo Domingo North: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized showers, isolated thunderstorms, and occasional gusts of wind.
  • Santo Domingo Oeste: Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with localized showers, isolated thunderstorms, and occasional gusts of wind.

Temperatures are expected to range between 20°C and 23°C for minimums and between 29°C and 31°C for maximums.
