Rains will continue over the weekend

Santo Domingo – The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) forecast downpours, thundershowers, and gusty winds throughout the weekend over the northeast, north, southeast, and Central Cordillera regions due to the effects of a moisture band on the territory.

COE alerts 28 provinces
This forecast caused the Emergency Operations Center (COE) to increase 28 provinces on alert, 18 of them in yellow, due to possible flooding of rivers, streams, and creeks and floods and landslides.

The agency decreed a yellow alert for Montecristi, Santiago Rodríguez, Puerto Plata, Santiago, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Duarte, Espaillat, Sánchez Ramírez, María Trinidad Sánchez, San José de Ocoa, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, Hato Mayor, Samaná, Santo Domingo and the National District.

While in green is San Juan, Elías Piña, Valverde, Azua, Peravia, Hermanas Mirabal, Dajabón, La Romana, El Seibo and La Altagracia.

Minister follows up
The Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Igor Rodriguez, visited the COE facilities to follow up on the passage through our territory of a trough that has generated high volumes of water.

“Together with Major General Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the @COE_RD and his entire team, we coordinated actions due to the passage of a trough that has generated high volumes of water in the country. 17 provinces and the National District are on yellow alert, while another 10 are on green alert. united!” the official expressed on his X account, formerly Twitter.

Rodríguez said that President Abinader is attentive to the whole process and that government institutions are ready for any need.
