Government’s assistance continues in Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata, DR.- After a significant volume of water swept over the national territory due to a passing trough, Administrative Minister of the Presidency Igor Rodríguez Durán spent two days in Puerto Plata, delivering additional aid to families affected by the floods.

Before commencing the tour, Rodríguez held a strategic planning session with several key officials, including provincial governor Claritza Rochtte, Civil Defense Director Wascar García, San Felipe de Puerto Plata Mayor Roquelito García, Puerto Plata Air Base Commander Pilot General Manuel Abad García Lithgow, Puerto Plata National Police Director General Jorge Luis Galán Guerrero, Rescate Ámbar Director Reinaldo Ortiz, Fire Department Director Ronny Martínez, among others.

The delegation then proceeded to the bridge over the El Higüero River in the Los Pérez community of the Villa Montellano municipality, where crews with heavy equipment were diligently clearing debris to restore traffic flow disrupted by the overflow.

In Villa Montellano’s mayor’s office, a significant quantity of food rations was distributed by the commission. They also visited the La Marina community in the Yásica Arriba district to assess the flood damage and initiate prompt recovery efforts.

Their journey concluded in the municipality of Imbert, inspecting the situation at the Saballo speed bump, which has left the Piragua community isolated. Families in these areas have been receiving food rations from the Presidency’s Social Assistance Plan.

Rodríguez announced the delivery of over three thousand portions of raw food through mobile kitchens stationed in the municipality of Sosúa and the municipal district of Sabaneta de Yásica.

Additionally, the minister presented Civil Defense Director Wascar García with a certificate of funds for the purchase of a modern truck to enhance operational capabilities.

Rodríguez reiterated his commitment to visiting other affected areas and providing immediate solutions for families in line with President Luis Abinader’s directives.
