US military delegation visits Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, alongside Major General Francisco Antonio Ovalle Pichardo, hosted a delegation of US military personnel during their visit to the country. The delegation, headed by Command Sergeant Major Troy E. Black of the US Marine Corps, included Lieutenant Colonel Lowell Krusinger, the Defense Attaché of the US Embassy.

The purpose of the visit, as stated in a press release, was to bolster cooperation between the Dominican Republic and the United States. This collaboration aims to provide technical assistance and educational support to enhance the non-commissioned officer corps of the Dominican Armed Forces.

Among the delegation were Command Sergeant Major Rafael Rodríguez from the US Army’s Southern Command and Sergeant Major Reynaldo Soto from the Puerto Rico National Guard. They discussed ongoing efforts to transform and expand training programs within the Armed Forces, highlighting new initiatives designed to elevate the career trajectory of non-commissioned officers.

Colonel Nelton Baralt Blanco, Director of the Graduate School of Higher Strategic Studies, outlined the ongoing initiatives aimed at modernizing and strengthening the Armed Forces’ training programs. He also unveiled a new educational framework aimed at providing comprehensive training to Dominican soldiers, ensuring their readiness for evolving challenges.

Expressing gratitude for the support from the US Armed Forces, Díaz Morfa emphasized the strides made in recent years to reform and streamline the non-commissioned officer corps of the Dominican Armed Forces. He reiterated the commitment to continued collaboration and advancement within this crucial segment of the military.
