Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) has issued a report stating that due to the presence of a trough at various levels of the troposphere and high humidity levels, cloudy conditions are expected across the southeast, the Central Mountain Range, Cibao, and the southwest regions of the Dominican Republic. Consequently, moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds are forecasted to occur from around noon.
According to the entity, this afternoon onwards, rainfall is anticipated in the following provinces: La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, Gran Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, Mirabal Sisters, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Elías Piña, and San Juan.
Onamet further indicated that on Saturday, the trough will persist over the national territory. Although the morning hours may see minimal rainfall activity, except for some showers along the Atlantic coast, precipitation is expected to intensify in the afternoon across the southeast, the Central Mountain Range, the southwest, and areas along the border. These showers are likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, becoming more frequent and intense towards the late afternoon and evening, and extending to the northwest, north, and northeast regions of the country.
The provinces forecasted to experience significant rainfall include: San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, Gran Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Santiago, Espaillat, Santiago Rodríguez, Elías Piña, and San Juan.
