Continued rainfall expected across Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- According to Onamet, although the trough is expected to move away from the Dominican territory, significant rainfall activity is anticipated for the afternoon due to favorable conditions for continued cloudy weather. This could result in moderate to locally strong downpours, isolated thunderstorms, and gusty winds.

The weather forecast indicates that these rains may affect provinces such as La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, certain areas of Greater Santo Domingo, Sánchez Ramírez, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Elías Piña, San Juan, Independencia, Bahoruco, and nearby regions until late at night.

Onamet’s National Forecast Center maintains meteorological warning and alert levels due to current and expected rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours. This includes the risk of river, stream, and ravine flooding, urban inundation, and potential landslides for provinces such as San Pedro de Macorís, La Altagracia, Valverde, Hermanas Mirabal, Samaná, La Romana, and Dajabón.
