Misleading social media post sparks concern

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has condemned what it describes as an irresponsible and malicious act aimed at causing alarm among citizens. Mr. César Fernández has shared a photograph on social media dating back to 2023, falsely depicting a breakdown of the overpass at the intersection of 27 de Febrero and Tiradentes avenues.

The photograph circulated by Mr. Fernández implies that the alleged breakdown occurred recently, which is not the case. The MOPC clarifies that the image does not reflect the current state of the structure and assures the public that there is no danger to citizens using the overpass. Mr. Fernández, who is affiliated with the Fuerza del Pueblo Party, is urged to refrain from spreading misleading information that could cause unnecessary panic among the population.
