Abinader will receive international observers at the National Palace

Santo Domingo.- In anticipation of the upcoming presidential and congressional elections in the Dominican Republic scheduled for Sunday, May 19, President Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona will convene a meeting at 5:00 pm this Thursday with Eduardo Frei, former President of Chile and head of the electoral observation mission of the Organization of American States (OAS).

The meeting will be held in the Meeting Room of the National Palace, focusing on discussions regarding the preliminary observations of the OAS mission and analysis of the electoral process’s progress. Eduardo Frei brings extensive expertise in democracy and election matters, offering an expert and impartial perspective on the process.

Following this meeting, at 7:30 pm, the president will engage with representatives of the electoral observation mission from the IDEA Group (Democratic Initiative of Spain and the Americas). This gathering, also set to take place in the Meeting Room of the National Palace, will involve dialogue with the IDEA Group, comprising former presidents and democracy experts committed to promoting and fortifying democratic processes in the region.
