Santo Domingo.- Roque Espaillat, known as “El Cobrador,” the presidential candidate for the Democratic Hope Party (PED), exercised his voting rights this Sunday at the Nuestra Señora de Las Mercedes Polytechnic in Santiago de los Caballeros. He expressed satisfaction with the organized electoral process by the Central Electoral Board for the presidential, senatorial, and deputy elections.
Espaillat reaffirmed his commitment to continue fighting for the country, stating, “tomorrow with more faith than yesterday, and tomorrow with more determination and courage than ever before.”
About the Elections
Regarding the elections, in the Dominican Republic, 7,281,763 eligible voters are distributed across 16,851 polling stations in 4,295 electoral precincts, according to the Central Electoral Board (JCE). Additionally, 863,784 Dominican citizens abroad will vote in 1,566 polling stations located in 372 electoral precincts across 46 cities and 35 countries, facilitated by 2,015 EDET teams.
Voting in the country will conclude at 5:00 p.m., with the JCE issuing the first bulletin of results starting at 8:00 p.m.
A total of 264 elective positions will be contested in these elections, including the presidency, vice presidency, 32 senatorial seats, 178 territorial deputations by province, 7 deputations abroad, 5 national deputations by accumulation of votes, and 40 deputies to the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN), divided into 20 regulars and 20 substitutes.
