Puerto Plata.- Haiti and Dominican Republic officials on Tuesday discussed ways to bolster regional tourism and make it more comprehensive and attractive for visitors to the countries that share Hispaniola, EFE reports.

Haiti Tourism minister Stephanie Villedrouin met with Dominican counterpart Francisco Javier García to discuss regional tourism issues, as part of the 5th annual Tourism Summit held in Cofresi, where the Haiti official was the special guest .

Villedrouin then met Lorenzo Sancassani, Dominican Tourism Ministry director in Puerto Plata province.

The Haiti official and Garcia said they discussed the integration of the area’s tourism and take advantage of the attractions unique to both countries.

Tension

The talks come while tension mounts between Port-au-Prince and Santo Domingo over Dominican Republic’s push to regularize the mostly Haitian illegal aliens.
