Santiago street renamed to remember fallen Dominican Officer

Santiago, DR.- In a heartfelt tribute, the main street of the Guayacanal community in the municipal district of Hato del Yaque, Santiago province, was officially renamed in honor of Wilbert Mora Jiminián, a 27-year-old Dominican police officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2022.

Jiminián’s life was cut short while he was responding to a 911 call related to a domestic violence case in New York. He was one of two officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty.

The street renaming ceremony was a poignant and emotional event, attended by local residents as well as over 70 of Jiminián’s comrades-in-arms from various parts of the country. The officers traveled to pay their respects to their fallen colleague and honor his memory.

The renaming of the street serves as a testament to Jiminián’s bravery and dedication to serving his community. It is a lasting tribute to his life and legacy, and a reminder of the sacrifices that police officers make every day to keep their communities safe.
