RD$2,000 bills from 2023 to circulate in June

Santo Domingo.- The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) announced that starting Monday, June 17, 2024, new RD$2,000.00 banknotes will be in circulation.

These banknotes, commissioned through international public bidding in May 2023, feature the same security elements as the current RD$2,000.00 banknotes, which will remain valid for all public and private transactions.

The issuance of these banknotes complies with articles 228, 229, and 230 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic and Article 25, sections a) and c) of Monetary and Financial Law No. 183-02.

“The Central Bank encourages citizens to visit its website for more information about these or other banknotes and coins,” the statement said.
