Frank Rainieri appointed as Tourism Mentor for Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.- The Council of Aldermen of the National District, representing Mayor Carolina Mejía, approved the appointment of businessman Frank Rainieri as a tourism mentor for the city of Santo Domingo this Thursday.

During a ceremony at the Town Hall of the Colonial City, Rainieri received a scroll, a gift, and a vest bearing his name, signifying his affiliation with the Mayor’s Office of the National District.

Rainieri, founder of the Puntacana Group, expressed gratitude for the recognition and committed to leveraging his expertise to boost visitor numbers to Santo Domingo.

Additionally, Rainieri and Mayor Mejía engaged in a casual discussion about the city’s various aspects, including its potential and tourism prospects.

This role involves honorary support from Rainieri on tourism-related issues. His wife, Haydée Kuret, and his son, Frank Elías Rainieri, attended the event. Also present were José Ignacio Paliza, Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Yovany Moya, president of the Council of Aldermen, Sina del Rosario, technical secretary of the DN Mayor’s Office, and Víctor González, Beatriz González, Ana González, and Alicia Torres.

Frank Rainieri Marranzini is a prominent figure in the hospitality and tourism industry, boasting one of the ten largest fortunes in the Dominican Republic, with a net worth close to $1 billion as of 2014, according to Forbes.

Recently retired from his roles as President and CEO of Grupo Puntacana and President of the Grupo Puntacana Foundation, Rainieri has been influential in corporate social responsibility and environmental preservation programs through the foundation.

In 2015, Rainieri was appointed as the ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Dominican Republic. His notable achievements include the significant development of Punta Cana as a tourist destination, beginning with the opening of the Punta Cana Club in 1971 alongside American businessman Ted Kheel.
