11 suspected criminals killed by National Police in first half of June

Santo Domingo – The first half of June was marked by different criminal acts, some of which ended with the death of alleged criminals in exchanges of gunfire with police officers.

At least 11 alleged criminals were killed in confrontations with the authorities after being sought and intercepted for committing different crimes.

At the beginning of the month, the National Police reported the death of Junior Ramirez alias “Junior Kepuay” and Ramfis Theophile, better known as “The Lord of the Skies.”

The incident occurred on June 1 in the Quisqueya municipality of San Pedro de Macoris province. According to the police report, when the deceased noticed the police presence, instead of stopping and surrendering to the authorities, they attacked the agents with two firearms, who were forced to respond to the aggression.

“El Señor de los Cielos” had 15 arrest warrants against him for being accused in the deaths and injuries of several people and for illicit trafficking and sale and distribution of controlled substances (drugs), among others.

Also, Wilson Marte Mosquea, alias “Ronny,” 20 years old, was killed by members of the police in an exchange of gunfire in the Capotillo sector of the National District.

Ronny died in a confrontation with agents after they tried to arrest him for carrying a firearm.

An event that had great relevance throughout the national territory was the robbery of a branch of Banco Popular, located in the National District, on the 3rd of this month. Five days later, the National Police announced that two of the assailants were killed in an exchange of gunfire in separate incidents.

The deceased was identified as Richard Michel Estrella Arias, 25 years old, who barricaded himself around 1:30 in the morning in a room of the Costa Azul cabin on the 30 de Mayo highway; there, he started a shootout where he was seriously wounded by police officers and later died.

The second young man was Joan Eduardo Belliard Aybar, 24 years old, who died in an “exchange of gunfire” in El Hoyo, Santo Domingo Oeste, with agents of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim), where he was killed on the spot.

On the 7th of this month, Jeffrey Reynoso Ozuna, alias “Jeringuilla,” 26 years old, was killed when he shot at a police patrol that tried to apprehend him in the Mata Mamón area in Santo Domingo Norte.

“Jeringuilla” was wanted on an arrest warrant after being accused of having killed Mariano Fernández Hernández also for having participated in the homicides of Junior Báez García and Johnny Peña De La Rosa; all these cases to rob the victims of their belongings in the municipality of Boca Chica.

Other alleged criminals who died in an alleged confrontation with law enforcement agents were Gabriel Yordani Holguin alias “El Temible” and another young man who was only identified as “La Culebra.”

Both were accused of perpetrating an armed robbery in a food establishment in Puerto Plata. The alleged criminals were killed after confronting a patrol of the Central Investigations Directorate (Dicrim).

Meanwhile, in San Pedro de Macoris, Henry David Charles, known as “Enriquito El Capo”, 26 years old, who according to the authorities was a known criminal in the municipality of Consuelo, was killed.

According to the report, police agents assigned to the Southeast Regional Sub-Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office located the suspect while conducting an extensive search. However, he chose to confront the authorities with a firearm; this action caused the police officers to repel the aggression, causing the wounds that later caused his death.

In Loma de Cabrera, police agents assigned to the Dicrim killed Carlos Alberto Garcí, also known as “Rabo Loco,” during an alleged shooting confrontation.

The deceased was found with a firearm that he was carrying without specifying the type of device.

Last Wednesday, it was reported that the alleged criminal Eliezer Martinez Frias, nicknamed “El Burrito,” died during an alleged exchange of gunfire.

The police had been looking for “El Burrito” for several days for having three arrest warrants against him. He was accused of committing a series of armed robberies in different communities of West Santo Domingo and Los Alcarrizos.

So far this year, more than 35 alleged criminals have been killed in suspected exchanges of gunfire that have taken place in different localities of the national territory, of which the Dominican society has questioned several.
