Bayahibe, La Altagracia.- On Monday, Minister of Tourism David Collado inaugurated the construction of road infrastructure in Bayahíbe, a key tourist area, at an approximate cost of 53 million pesos.
The project involved reconstructing 11 road axes within the municipality of Bayahíbe, covering a total of 3.48 kilometers. Additionally, it included the construction of 4,229 linear meters of containment structures, scuppers, and filters to ensure proper water flow and road durability. The project also featured the implementation of horizontal and vertical signage.
Minister Collado emphasized that these initiatives are part of the Ministry of Tourism’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the destination. “Works like these are essential to continue promoting tourism in this great destination. And we will spare no effort to mark a before and after of our management,” stated Collado.
The project was executed by the Tourist Zone Infrastructure Execution Committee (CEIZTUR), led by Yaneris Then, with a total expenditure of RD$52,946,746.62. The road surfaces were finished with 2” asphalt concrete and parking paving stones.
Additionally, the pier parking lot for Saona Island is being rebuilt with variable width specifications.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key local and provincial authorities, as well as tourism industry entrepreneurs.
