Iberia responds to complaints about aircraft changes

Madrid.- Iberia has responded to complaints from Dominican and foreign passengers about the substitution of lower-category aircraft on flights between Madrid and Santo Domingo. The airline, part of the IAG group, explained that these changes were due to operational reasons and lasted only a few weeks, denying any discrimination against the Dominican Republic. Rubén López Pérez from Iberia’s External Communications Department emphasized that the changes were temporary and affected other routes to North and South America as well.

López Pérez addressed concerns raised by journalist Norys Sánchez about the disparity between the advertised business class and the actual facilities on some flights. He explained that Wamos Air was chosen because its cabin configuration is similar to Iberia’s, with fully flat seats in business class and comparable space in economy. He reassured that the amenities and food service remained consistent with Iberia’s standards.

Despite the temporary nature of these changes, it was noted that such substitutions have become more frequent since January, with Iberia also using aircraft from Level, a low-cost subsidiary. However, López Pérez reiterated that this situation does not reflect disrespect towards the Dominican Republic. Iberia remains committed to the country, as shown by the planned increase in flights and services for the upcoming winter season.
