Nationwide cloud cover warning due to Hurricane Beryl

Santo Domingo.- Hurricane Beryl, a powerful Category 5 storm with sustained winds reaching 266 kilometers per hour, continues its trajectory through the Caribbean Sea. According to weather analyst Jean Suriel, the entire country will experience cloudy conditions for the next 12 hours due to the expansive circulation of the storm.

A concentrated core in the Caribbean Sea is anticipated to bring showers to several provinces within the next 2 to 4 hours, including La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, Santo Domingo, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, and San Cristóbal. By the afternoon, Beryl is forecasted to move south of Santo Domingo, potentially decreasing to a Category 4 storm near Haiti due to the influence of the Central Cordillera.

Hurricane Beryl has already caused significant damage in Grenada, flooding in Venezuela, powerful waves in Puerto Rico, and one fatality in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Drone footage has captured devastating scenes on Carriacou Island, showcasing the impact of the storm surge.

The effects of Hurricane Beryl have also triggered the overflow of the Manzanares River in the Montes municipality of Sucre state, following heavy rains earlier in the day. The government has activated Civil Protection and reinforced firefighting teams to provide crucial logistical support in affected areas.
